Experience description:

I was working in a restaurant as a dishwasher and slipped while carrying a large stack of ceramic plates. I tried to cradle them as we crashed against the ground. I severed tendons in my hand and required surgery. I was given anesthesia and woke up the next morning a bit confused. I was sent home and prescribed pain medication. I was around 21 or 22 years old and enjoyed alcohol and drugs, so I think I remember taking a couple more pills than prescribed. Perhaps in liquid form as well. This may have also been a delayed reaction to the anesthesia.  It's hard to recall exactly. I suppose I must have been dreaming, but it felt so real.

I was lying in bed at night and looking out my window at the streetlight a block over. The light was behind some trees. There was a bit of wind, so I could see it flickering through the leaves. Then suddenly it appeared to grow, to be moving closer. It came through my window and enveloped my entire room.  I was like thrust into it. It sort of reminded me of how people describe alien abductions.  I was scared. But as I hovered over my body, I felt extreme bliss, having left my physical shell.  I no longer feeling any sort of pain or discomfort, no cold or heat, no aches or itchiness, no weight or anything at all. I felt like pure consciousness, pure energy. I sort of looked down at my body and realized that I was about to leave it. I begged the light to be saved and not to die yet. I was too young with too many unfulfilled goals. I would miss my family and friends so much. Then I woke up gasping for air, heart pounding, and sweating profusely.

I think before this event, I would experience severe depressions and contemplate suicide. I think I took a lot for granted. After this event, I was acutely aware of just how much I treasured my existence, because I'm not sure what's on the other side. I'm not sure what happens if I stayed in the light, such as maybe I lose all of my memories or leave that life behind. Maybe I disintegrate into pure energy and it's all gone. I'm not sure. But I think I'll keep pressing on while I'm here, making an effort to appreciate my loved ones, and trying to stay inspired.  Perhaps I'll write a book or film a movie, or start a family of my own,  or travel the world. Who knows. Now that I'm 37, and have traveled the country and grown closer to family and nearly finished a screenplay, I think I'm close to being able to join The Light, but not yet. And anyway, what's the rush? It'll happen eventually. I might as well see what other surprises Life has in store for me.

Love to all.

Trevor

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   Yes  I had recently come out of surgery for a severed tendon in my hand and was at home and taking prescribed pain medication

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  Uncertain     It's hard to describe the light. I'm not sure of it's exact nature

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?      Almost as soon as I saw the street lamp, it felt as real as real life. Though obviously, being in the light, and having an out of body experience, was thrilling

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that God or a supreme being either does (or does not) exist?   Uncertain   The Light did not have a personality. Just a feeling of energy and bliss.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that you either did (or did not) exist prior to this lifetime?   Yes   I feel like maybe this Energy/Light is like the underlying fabric of our universe possibly, or it could just be a mechanism in which our energy is absorbed

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist?   Uncertain   Again, I don't know the exact nature of the Light or what happens if you remain in it

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life’s meaning or purpose?   Yes   I felt like it's the purpose you ascribe to it. For me personally, it was feeling connected to loved ones and pursuing Art

It did not have a personality as I expected. No answers were given to me regarding the Nature of the Light or what happens if you remain in it.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience   I can remember it vividly

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   Greater appreciation

My experience directly resulted in:   Moderate changes in my life

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?
Yes   Greater appreciation for life

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   Uncertain   I have had dreams, starting around age 18, that have felt extremely vivid and spiritual. When I was 18, I met a female figure in the sky, in the Light, with a Third Eye that bewildered me. Then about 5 years later, I had this NDE. Upon waking in 2021 I had the word EXOGENSIS boomed into my head, then researched it, and was mystified. In 2020  had a dream where I observed my friend entering the restaurant in a panic, face red, eyes watering, then upon waking I went to work and he entered the restaurant in a panic, face red, eyes watering, and exclaimed he had just eaten a mouthful of Wasabi. I often experience coincidences whereby I will hear a word at the same time I'm reading it, or writing it. Or colors of different objects will all cluster together and it feels meaningful, I'll see patterns. I try not be objective as possible about their significance, but every now, then coincidence is just too odd, too rare, and it really befuddled me, mystified me.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?
I guess, like, being given the choice whether to remain in the blissful Light or return to my body seems odd to me.

Have you ever shared this experience with others?
Yes  Almost immediately and repeatedly over the years. People seem highly receptive and believing of me, which is also odd to me. I think I would have more doubts if it were me

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   Uncertain   Probably so. Probably quite familiar with the concept of a white light

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was probably real   Because it seemed to have happened in a dream, it's impossible to say. Although the Dream was completely unlike 99% of dreams, it was still just a dream I suppose

What do you believe about the reality of your experience at the current time:   Experience was probably real   All I know for certain is what I've experienced, and this experience felt real to me, just as real as sitting here now and typing

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Probably so, although many factors in my life have played a part in how I view relationships   Uncertain

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Uncertain   Again, it felt real to me, and I think of it often. But I wasn't given any access to the after life, so I just don't know

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience?   Uncertain   Every now and then, I'll wake up and feel an extraordinary sense of Awe. I'll feel bewildered that I exist. Or that anything exists. This sense of Awe and Appreciation is similar

Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience?   No

Did the questions asked and information that you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?   Yes

Are there any other questions that we could ask to help you communicate your experience?              Non2opk0t_nde
