Timothy M's Experience
|
Experience description:
My name is Tim and I am a Police
Officer.
I'm 52 years of age and the following event occurred when I was 39 years old . I
had never experienced anything like this and have never experienced it since.
One evening in October
1998 , I was working when I received a phone call from my mother. She advised me
that my eldest brother had fallen ill and had been taken to the hospital in
Oshawa (about 40 miles away). She told me she would call me later to let me know
what was going on. About 45 minutes later she called and said that I should get
down there. I left work and drove to the Oshawa General Hospital where I met
with my parents. My mother advised me that the doctor had run some tests and
discovered that my brother had leukemia and that he had gangrene in his bowels .
He would have to have surgery immediately and that it was about a 50 % chance he
would survive. My brother was sedated when I arrived and as he was being wheeled
into the operating room I walked beside him as he lay in the gurney. He suddenly
opened his eyes and stared intensely at me . He had an oxygen mask on and could
not speak but he continued to stare at me. I spoke to him and told him he was
going to have an operation and he would be fine. He gave me this look as if it
were going to be the last time we would ever see each other again. He continued
to lock eyes with me as he was being wheeled through the doors to the operating
room. The operation took five hours and after I went to see him in the intensive
care ward. We had been told he would be in a chemically induced coma for several
days . After checking on him I drove back to Toronto to get some sleep. The next
day I slept in and then made my way back to the hospital. Upon arrival my
parents advised me that the doctors had told them my brothers organs had shut
down and it would only be a matter of a few days. On the following Sunday my
family and I held on to my brother as he peacefully passed away . He was my big
brother and had always been very kind to me and looked out for me.
During the following
year I thought about him often. I remember that I had said more than once out
loud "Andy, if you're out there , show me a sign ". Eventually he did , and in
a way that he left his signature where there could be no doubt for me. I should
mention now that I am an Atheist and so was my brother. I do not believe in the
Supreme Being Theory and still don't , but I now believe in there is a life
after death.
It was on October 30th
, 1999 , I had gone to bed just after midnight after a non eventful day and fell
into sleep. I should mention that all my life I have had many dreams , but
nothing compared to what I experienced this night. I was in my normal sleep
pattern when suddenly I woke up and found myself standing outside in a dark
place . Behind me were bushes , in front of me was a wooden cabin . I became
aware of the fact that I had no idea where I was , or how I got there. I even
looked at my hands and turned them front and back , just to make sure I wasn't
"dreaming'. I approached the cabin opened the door and walked inside. I even
remember that the door had one of those spring mechanisms that help to close the
door. Once inside I observed the cabin was old and smelled "musty'. On one side
of the cabin were a row of pane glass windows and there was starlight shining
through them. I then looked down to the floor and saw that it was a well aged
wooden floor . I then looked to my side and there were several wooden cane
chairs. All of a sudden my brother Andrew appeared and sat down in one of the
chairs. He was wearing a plaid shirt and glasses and appeared to be exactly how
he normally looked , he was only 48 years old when he died. I said to him ,
"Andy , what's going on , where am I ? " He began to speak to me but I could not
make out what he was saying . I looked into his eyes and suddenly remembered
that he had died. I then said to him "Andy , you're dead !" He stared at me and
I reached out and placed my hand on his shoulder and he was gone. I was standing
there looking at these black lacquered chairs and could even see the reflection
of light on the lacquer. I then looked up to the ceiling and saw there were off
white ceiling tiles . All of a sudden a panel opened up and flashed the most
magnificent light I have ever seen . I was completely bathed in it and suddenly
felt myself lifted up and was soaring upwards into this indescribably beautiful
light at an incredible speed. After a few seconds the light went off , like the
picture of a television when you turn it off . I was standing back in the cabin
looking up a the ceiling and saw the ceiling panel close up . I looked at the
panel where it had opened and could not see even a seam . The cabin was silent
and I looked over to the pane glass windows. I sensed I was in a most unusual
place and walked over to the windows to look out and see where I was. As soon as
I got to the window to look out , I woke up in my bed . I lay there and said
out loud "What was that!" I could not move for several minutes , replaying what
had just happened. I looked at the time and it was 5:00 AM . I then looked out
the window and saw an unusually bright star in the sky.
For the next two weeks
I could think of nothing else but this experience. I even drove 200 miles to my
parents home tell my family what had happened . I truly believe that that was my
brother contacting me to let me know he was alright. My brother was a genius in
life. he could repair any electronic device and was a computer whiz. The thing
with the light show was definitely my brother, he was always showing off the
latest gadgets and technology.
It took me seven years
to finally realize what this was. One night I listened to the radio program
"Coast to Coast" with 'George Norey ". He had a guest on that night and his name
was "Albert Taylor". He was a former N.A.S.A. scientist who had quit there to
research Out of Body Experiences on his own . He had written a book called "Soul
Traveler". I managed to look it up on the web and was immediately blown away
when I came across it. The cover of his book has a picture of this light that I
saw .
I never talk about this
experience with anyone other than a few close friends or family. Before this I
would never have believed anyone who would tell me such a tale and would have
written it off as " just a dream". The one thing that Albert Taylor said on the
show that night is the difference between a dream and an Out of body Experience
is...you will never forget an OBE.
