Thomas M's Experience
|
Experience description:
A friend had
given me a book 'Homage to the Sun' which depicts some antics of the spiritual
healer, Daskalos, in Greece. I've always had an interest in this topic but never
fell into either the believer/non-believer group. One lackluster day in summer,
after re-reading a section of the book, I decided to attempt an OBE. Reviewing
the book, which doesn't offer exact instructions, a relaxed meditative state was
suggested. I have gone through biofeedback therapy due to a head injury and can
easily relax the physical body. I lowered the lights in the room but had the TV
on in the background. Laying on the bed, I started relaxing. After a few minutes
of relaxation, I started working on what I thought the technique for attaining
the OBE state would be, based on material in the book.
After thirty
minutes of trying, I could tell because the M*A*S*H episode that came on when I
started the process was just going off, I stopped trying and went upstairs to
see if my grandfather had arrived. Seeing my sister, I asked if our grandfather
had stopped over and she said, 'I told you the last time you came up that he
didn't!' I asked her what she meant and she informed me that 10-15 minutes
earlier I had come upstairs wandered around every room of the house and asked
the same question before returning downstairs to my bedroom. She mentioned I
looked pale and didn't really act like my normal self. However, I did not leave
the bed in my room. I heard every second of the M*A*S*H episode while I was
mentally concentrating on attaining the OBE.
Did you
observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that
could be verified later?
Uncertain
Any
associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the
experience?
No
Was
the kind of experience difficult to express in words?
No
At
the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening
event?
No
What
was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?
I was
very conscious of the room in which I was physically in during the experience. I
was mentally alert to the point that I could remember the entire tv program that
was on in the background.
Was the
experience dream like in any way?
No, I was
mentally alert trying to attain the OBE state from my perspective.
Did
you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?
No
What
emotions did you feel during the experience?
No real
experience of emotion.
Did
you hear any unusual sounds or noises?
Other than the
TV, no.
LOCATION DESCRIPTION:
Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar
religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or
amazing creatures?
No
Did
you see a light?
No
Did
you meet or see any other beings?
No
Did
you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state?
No
I do
not have any recollection of being outside my body or having left the room. The
shock was my sister telling me that I came upstairs, wandered around the room,
mumbled something and returned to my room.
Did
you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they
different?
No
How
has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices?
Career choices?
The experience
has not really impacted my every day life other than looking for an explanation
on a periodic basis. I normally read about people remembering details of what
the astral body experienced, rather than what the physical body experienced.
Have
you shared this experience with others?
Yes,
Mostly
disbelief.
What
emotions did you experience following your experience?
I was shocked,
because I only recalled being in my room. Being told that I was upstairs when I
KNOW I wasn't was interesting.
What
was the best and worst part of your experience?
Not knowing if
I really attained an OBE. Personally, I feel I did. It would have been nice to
have had experienced it from the astral body.
Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life,
medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?
No
Did
the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively
describe your experience?
Yes
