Stephanie C's Experience
|
Experience description:
I had been feeling
extremely depressed and thinking about suicide for the entire night. However, I
know I would never actually commit suicide. I was just thinking about painless
ways to do it (again, I would never actually commit suicide), and eventually
fell asleep. However, I had the most vivid dream I've ever had. I'm not sure if
this would count as an NDE, but I'm still curious if it could mean anything.
Anyway, in my dream, I remember drowning somehow (I think by a lake or river or
something) and eventually knowing I had passed. All of a sudden I felt an out of
body experience and like i was being lifted up through a vortex. A very intense
vortex, it felt like I was going at least 100 mph. The scenery looked like
bright light and like I was passing through a bunch of stars. The vortex
eventually stopped however, and then my out of body experience occurred. I was
watching my mother try to perform CPR on my dead body and started to panic. I
realized everything I was leaving behind and told myself to go back down the
vortex. My out of body self was telling my then-dead self to come back alive and
to let my mother save me. Eventually, the CPR worked and I was revived thanks to
my mother. I woke up shortly afterwards thankful that it was a dream. I feel as
if I can still remember it perfectly though and can distinctly remember the
feeling of the vortex pulling my upwards. What could a national organization with an interest in near death experience
(NDE) do that would be of interest to you?

your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?
No
Was the
experience difficult to express in words?
No

Normal consciousness and alertness
It was normal.

At first happiness because I was leaving
everything behind, but then panic once I realized I didn't want to leave the
world behind yet.

into or through a tunnel? Yes

space.

fast as I was traveling through the vortex, it felt like I was traveling at
least 100 mph.

suddenly seem to understand everything?
Everything about myself or

Yes, I understood that I did not want to die yet and it was not my time
to go.
Did you reach a
boundary or limiting physical structure?
No

a border or point of no return?

to you? No
During your
experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness suggesting
that there either is (or is not) continued existence after earthly life ("life
after death")? Yes
I was clearly traveling upwards somewhere, like my body was being lifted
upwards through this vortex. I did not find out where the vortex ended, but I
felt as if it was going somewhere. It felt like my life on earth might have
ended but I was just going somewhere else.
During your
experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that God or a
supreme being either does (or does not) exist?
No

either did (or did not) exist prior to this lifetime?
No
During your
experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a
mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist?
Yes I
was traveling through space somewhere outside of Earth, so it felt like there
was something beyond this universe that we are connected to.
During your
experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding
earthly lifes meaning or purpose?
No Because I had
committed suicide in my dream, it made me realize that no matter how hard your
life might be right now, suicide is not the answer.
During your experience, did you
encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly lifes
difficulties, challenges, or hardships?
Yes Because I had
committed suicide in my dream, it made me realize that no matter how hard your

you have not shared in other questions that is relevant to living our earthly
lives? No

than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience
My experience directly resulted in:
Large changes in my life

occurred as a result of the experience?
Yes I believe that
everyone is here for a reason and you will be taken from Earth when it is your
time.
Do you have any
psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did
not have before the experience?
No
Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially
meaningful or significant to you?
It was a very realistic dream that has
convinced me that suicide will never be the answer.
Have you ever shared this experience with others?
No
Did you have
any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?
Yes I have
heard of NDE before and done some brief research, but I don't think it affected
my experience in any way.
What did you
believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it
happened: Experience was
probably real Because this experience was a dream, the
act that caused the experience was definitely not real because I did not try
committing suicide. However, the experience in the dream felt so real that I
believe something happened.
What do you
believe about the reality of your experience at the current time:
Experience was probably real
