EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

I went to bed as normal. I fell asleep. The next thing I realize is that I'm elevated and looking down at myself asleep in bed. I remember knowing it was me in bed and that also i was 'another me' I then found myself walking through a long dark tunnel which had a bright white light at the end of it. I'm walking towards the light. I get into the light. I'm aware that there are people there, but everywhere I look seems white.  My 'deceased' Nan is there. I'm aware that she's talking to someone. And she looks at me out the corner of her eye and she says, 'What are you doing here? ... it's not your time. Go back.' I then wake up. I tell my Mother what happened to me...but I got shouted at.

I also re-visited that tunnel as an adult aged about 36. This time i didn't see a light. Just a dark tunnel. And i saw that people were in the walls of the tunnel. As I'm slowly walking through, people are stepping out of the tunnel 'walls'. I remember seeing an old man step out in front of me as I walked past, he had such a kind face, he kind of lifted his eyebrows up, looked at me, smiled and then stepped back into the tunnel 'wall'.

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   Yes  Stopped breathing in my sleep

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  No    

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?         When I was in the light.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      More consciousness and alertness than normal   When you are in the light, you are more understanding, everything is as it should be.

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   Everything is so much more clearer and the colors were like that of a rainbow.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   The hearing was much more than that of just your ears. I'd even say it was telepathic.

Did you see or hear any earthly events that were occurring during a time that your consciousness / awareness was apart from your physical / earthly body?   No  

What emotions did you feel during the experience?   Freedom. Peace. Joy.  

Did you pass into or through a tunnel?   Yes   I walked through a long dark tunnel. Which had a white light the size of a pinprick at the end of it...which obviously got larger the closer i got to it.

Did you see an unearthly light?   Yes   A bright white light.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice?   I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin
My 'deceased' Nan.

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)?   No  

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings?   Yes   I saw my 'deceased' Grandmother

Did you become aware of past events in your life during your experience?   No  

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world?   A clearly mystical or unearthly realm
Mostly I saw a lot of white. My deceased Nan...and other people.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down?   Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
Time simply had no meaning.

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything?   No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?   Uncertain
It felt like i wasn't meant to see what was beyond the white light. I feel that my Nan was the boundary.

Did you come to a border or point of no return?   I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will

Did scenes from the future come to you?  No 

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness suggesting that there either is (or is not) continued existence after earthly life (“life after death”)?   Yes   The people there proved that there is life after death.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that God or a supreme being either does (or does not) exist?   Yes   Although I had no religion and i was only 9. I knew that I was 'inside God'

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that you either did (or did not) exist prior to this lifetime?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist?   Yes   Everybody in the light are as one. And are as one within God.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life’s meaning or purpose?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life’s difficulties, challenges, or hardships?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding love?   Yes   That love transcends the earthly life.

During your experience, did you encounter any other specific information / awareness that you have not shared in other questions that is relevant to living our earthly lives?   No  

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge or purpose?   No  

What occurred during your experience included:   Content that was entirely not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience   I had no knowledge of the afterlife, or of religion, or of God.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of th  

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   A belief in God. Heaven.

My experience directly resulted in:   Moderate changes in my life

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?   Uncertain   I try to be kind and understanding with everyone.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   Yes   Precognitive dreams. Knowing things about people just by being near them.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?     That my 'deceased' Grandmother...before she passed away could not stand, walk...or talk due to several strokes. But there...she was standing and talking so clearly. I never remembered her ever being able to do any of those things.

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  I think i first shared the story with my Mother the next day...she shouted at me.

Other people have been swayed into thinking maybe there is a God.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   No  

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was probably real   My Mother got me thinking that it was not real.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience at the current time:   Experience was definitely real   You don't remember something that's not real and still so vivid to recall so many years after.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Uncertain   But i know i feel different from other people.

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   I now go to church and believe in God.

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience?   Yes   As an adult i re-visited the near death tunnel experience. But that time I saw no light. I was more aware of people stuck in the walls of the tunnel.
