Experience description:

This was my first OBE.  At age 13 as a child my father was ill and was in the hospital.  I was calmly watching my cousins play pool and listen to music on a Saturday night. Without any warning, I had the sensation of being out of my body, quickly pulled out and then I could see myself and others from the ceiling level of the room.  This was only for a split second and then I was pulled above.  I came back with the knowledge that my father had died.  I do not recall words or even a surrounding while I obtained this information.  It was scary and shocking at the same time.  I had no idea what had happened.  Following this event I immediately looked at the clock and noted the time.  This was the exact time noted on my father's death certificate.  

Over the years this continues to occur. OBE and then a flash of knowledge.  I have visited other realms or dimensions for the purpose of gaining knowledge or a warning. I have wondered for years what this is, where am I going and why is this happening?  I believe that if I were trying to experience this it would not be such a mystery.  It happens spontaneously, the OBE.  At times now, I know things without even having to have an OBE.  It is as if the OBE following the death of my father somehow offered me the ability to know things automatically.    

On one occasion I was having Thanksgiving with my family and went up spontaneously and ended up in a place that was colored in grey, appeared barren, with a rocky terrain.  There was no one there.  I was surrounded with knowledge, past present and future, this place knew everything. There was no sound.  It was like there was communication but no words, just information surrounded and engulfed.  It was like this place only existed for knowledge.  I learned something in that OBE that I wished I never known.   

One of the more interesting OBE was when I ended up in some sort of a colorful solar system.  There were bright planets and the feeling of a large space.  There was a very powerful bolt of lightning that carried me into the location it was so close and I could hear it flying through the space.  No knowledge came to me that OBE. 

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No      

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     It is hard to describe the feeling of an OBE and then powerful knowledge is obtained.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No      

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           All of my OBEs shock me into an alert state, if I can keep up with it.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   No very far from a dream state.  Much more vivid.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes     My body stayed and my mind or spirit traveled.  I am not sure what I actually look like during the OBE.  I have had people ask me if I am okay, and the voice or touch brings me back to my body.  I must look a bit frightened as it is always spontaneous and it does scare me when it occurs.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            All of them have been different types of OBE and visits to different types of places.  I have to say that the "knowledge realm" was quite powerful and I was grateful that I had time to look around and feel the presence of this place. I admit that the shock of the OBE can be scary if it not intended.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           No, no noises. Only in one where the bolt of energy streamed through space, it was loud as if an explosion.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    No           

Did you see a light?           No      

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No      

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? No      

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Yes     The knowledge obtained in these places would come true or were true.  Dealing with deaths.  At times I have flashes or pictures and I am not sure what it is, I can typically utilize a sense to figure it out, sometimes.  But not always.

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          No      

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?          Yes     Time stands still in these places that I have been.  There is no sense of time passing.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes            Usually it is about someone who is going to die or a person that is sick.  At times it comes as a warning for me or my loved ones. It is special knowledge that I obtain each time this occurs.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             No       No boundaries, all open spaces.

Did you become aware of future events?       Yes     Very accurate.

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       No       Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?   Yes    

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes     I know that there are other places or realms in our universe.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       I do not talk about it to almost anyone.  I sound crazy when I tell the stories.  People think I am weird when I share the experiences.  Only my family knows about this and that I am correct when predicting certain events.  

I would say that my religious beliefs changed following the OBEs. Much more liberal in my beliefs in that I try to understand other religions that teach on the spiritual realms such as Buddha & Hindu.

 Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Yes     See number 25

 Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Just my family. Again experiencing this and then sharing it with people does not go over well.  I would love to share it openly and have positive responses or questions, but that is not what has happened.

 What emotions did you experience following your experience?  The first time fear and then following that mostly just curiosity.

 What was the best and worst part of your experience?      Knowledge of an event (such as death) in advance can be painful.  I do know that there are other places beyond what we know is earth.  I do not think that many people get to experience or witness these places in our lives on earth, I feel privileged that I know about the other realms.

 Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No
