Rose's Experience
|
Experience description:
I was living 1200 miles
away at the time my mom was diagnosed with cancer and it was real difficult for
me. My mom was living with my sister at the time of her death. She was petrified
of dying all her life. She used to say when you died you went in the ground and
that was it. I flew in on a flight about 1 week earlier than planned on the day
before she passed. I just had a feeling things weren't good. That evening my
sister and I sat by her bed talking as she recalled things in her past from many
years prior. My dad had passed 16 years prior to her and as a young man he boxed
in the Golden Gloves. While sitting by her bed she asked who is that boxing? We
knew it was my dad. She passed that night and family members recall dreaming of
her that same night. Well the day after she passed my teenage daughter flew to
New Jersey to see her nanny for one last time but unfortunately she was too
late.
That evening as we went
to sleep on a pull out sofa in my sisters home, lying back to back, I heard a
radio playing in my head, it's hard to explain but it was just as if a radio was
on in the house, I even rolled over to ask my daughter if she had on her walkman
radio, which she didn't. The song that was playing was by the "Doors" and it was
"Touch Me". The words are touch me babe, can't you see that I am not afraid, I'm
going to love you till the heavens stop the rain, I'm going to love you till the
stars fall from the sky. Well the next morning I asked my sister if she had a
radio on upstairs and she said no and I replied well then mommy sent me a song
last night to let me know that she is OK, she is not afraid anymore. Now you
have to know that my mother was 75 years old and I don't think she even knew who
the "Doors" were. This was in 1993 and that song was popular in maybe 1969.
Up to this day I hear
that song at significant times in my life and it has been witnessed by others
whom I've shared my story with. I believe it is my moms way of communicating
with me. Even the day my niece died at the age of 37 from a heart attack, I was
with co-workers, at a convention when I received a phone call to tell me about
my niece. My co-workers said "let's go have a drink" and I was very downtrodden
and had thought of my mom saying "Well I've got another one here with me" and
guess what came on the radio at the exact moment of the thought. Touch me by the
Doors. There have been many other occasions over the years when I hear that song
and it is always at very significant times. I don't think I will ever be
convinced that there is nothing after we die.
