Experience description:

I was playing kickball on schoolyard as an outfielder. I chased a long ball under a grove of pine trees. I bent over to pick up the ball and suddenly found myself at the treetops looking down on my motionless body. Upon hearing demands if 'hurry up' from schoolmates, I was suddenly back in my body. I picked the ball up and returned to the game.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?   Yes    My body was in the position of leaning down to pick up the ball and was motionless, almost as if frozen in place

What emotions did you feel during the experience?          Wonder...noticed glistening pine needles....liked them

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?         No, only my schoolmates yelling at me

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?   I knew this was unusual. I thought consciousness was not quite as fixed as others thought. I never told anyone...did not want to be considered nuts. Although my interests were as a generalist, I did my major in psychology.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes    Realized there was more to life than I knew.

What emotions did you experience following your experience? I thought I didn't want this to happen again because I was afraid I could just float away.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?     I thought it fascinating and was not fearful.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience? I loved looking at the pine needles glistening in the sun.
