Experience description:

My teenage daughter and I got into a fight and she ran away form home. I looked into the mirror and looked like a leper and thought is Jesus could love and heal leper he could help me too. He love Mary Magdalene the sinner he could love me too. I took a shower, out on a white night gown and prayer with tears that God would give me meaning to this illness and why I was going through this.  I feel asleep and floated through the Milky Way and the stars became angels and I found myself on a cloud with Jesus and he put his arm around me and told me I was his sister and he was my brother and I am to give and receive love and forgiveness and I told him I could do that and I woke back up in my bed and three days had passed and my front door was open and my doing was still in the front yard.  I wrote the word Joy in green ink and the world seemed to be in color and I had a completed sense of hope and peace

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   Yes  I was sick for 9 years and three hospitals told me there was nothing more they could do for me.

What occurred during your experience included:   Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience   I was raised to believe that Jesus loved me but felt like I was being punished here on earth for all the bad choices I made and was an unlovable person at the time of the experience, everyone was afraid of me and what I looked like (leper) and people wouldn't even get in the same elevator at the doctors and the skin eating bacteria was being discovered at the time and it looked people thought I had that

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience  

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   I began to volunteer and a suicide prevention hotline for 10 years, finished my BA in behavioral science got my Master degree in conflict management, getting my doctorate in clinical psychology.  Found a doctor who found the source of my illness and am now healthy.  I chose to work in mental health and with seniors who are new foster parents. I am more patient, caring and nonjudgmental. I went form being almost homeless to owning my own home. I went from being unemployable to job stability.  I went from making poor choices to good choices. My daughter and family live with me now when I was once alone.  I feel a sense of peace with life that I didn't have before.

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?   Yes   My belief in Jesus was confirmed and I got re-baptized with my mom and dad on my 50th birthday.  I committee my life to God in the prayer tower at Crystal Cathedral and God gave me a rainbow as I walked out of the tower and I was the only person on campus that early morning, I believe God confirmed my commitment. I have that picture of the rainbow since it was in the paper the next day while I was in Reno seeing a doctor to remove the infection in my jaw.  The picture is on my mantle

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   Yes   I can tell when people are lying    

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  I shared it right after the experience and a story was published on the angels on earth magazine and then someone out in a book called how to listen to God

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   No   didn't belong to a church since I was a child but had 10 years of service on the crisis suicide hotline but then church was supportive when I went through family hardship so I secluded again but recently discovered watching Joel Osteen with my family in Sundays
