I then had a feeling of thickness in my body as if my soul where thinning out.  It felt larger somehow.  Then it was as if time stopped because I then became aware I had been staring at myself from above.  Seeing myself laying there, I could sense some connection with my body still - not in a physical sense but maybe in that thinning feeling sense.  An eternity could have passed but I would have never knew it.  I wasn't scared at the time but I do remember thinking I might be dieing.  However, I became worried I would float too high and not be able to get back.  I can't tell how I snapped out of it or back into my body. 

 I just remember waking up later feeling better.  My mother became worried when I told her the story and told me I must have been dreaming but the awareness sensation was too strong.  I have also had that thick or thinning feeling several times since the experience.  The last one was in 2001.  It seems to be at that twilight state between sleep and being awake.  During the OBE, I remember a feeling of a -I'm going to use a sound to describe a feeling- silent hum.  I hope that makes some sense.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes

The feeling I had before and during the experience.  My body felt thick, like my soul was thinning out.  Maybe it was that I could feel everything in my body.  I'm not sure.  I have had that feeling several times (last feeling was in 2001) since but no OBE.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Uncertain

I had never felt that ill before -possibly the flu.  I snapped out of the sickness shortly after the experience

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           At first I wasn't very alert to it but then when I realized I was staring at my body from above, I became very aware.  An awareness without time.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   No.  I used to lucid dream a lot about 10 years ago.  The feeling isn't the same.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

I had no physical form.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Curiousity and some minor fear at the end.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           I heard nothing.

Touch -  No physical feeling.

Sight - Different but not sure how.  I could sense everything in the room.  That's where the description gets hard.

Hearing - I could only hear silence but I was in my room by myself.

Smell - None

Taste - None

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes

Time was wasn't there.  Only my thoughts.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             Uncertain

I had a sense I was higher than the actual ceiling but I could not see the ceiling.  Only a focus of myself on the bed.

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       Uncertain

Can't remember how I got back.  It's not that it's been a long time since this happened.  I just don't remember.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Uncertain

I began questioning the Bible.  But not sure if it's directly related because I am a very analytical and curious person.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       Not much.

Mother - disbelief.  "probably the devil's work"

Wife - Believes.  She says she had several as a child but hers were at will.  They sound more like remote viewing because she says she could see and feel what others felt.

Sisters - not sure.

Girlfriends - not sure.

No apparent influence.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  Wonderment.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      Best - Something like that happened to me.

Worst - The question of "Would I have been able to get back to my body had I gone further?"  It's prevented my from relasing myslef when I get that thick/thinning feeling.
