Paul D's Experience
|
Experience description:
During WWII my mother, sister and I lived with my grandparents while my father
was in the army. Because of limited space my sister (5 years old )and I shared a
bedroom with bunk beds. I was in the bottom bunk. My bed was next to a wall that
separated the bedroom from the living room and I could hear conversations quite
easily. One night after falling asleep on my back (something I refuse to do
today and have not done in 60 years) I heard my mother say something about my
father, something unclear but it caused me to sit up in bed because I missed him
terribly and wanted to know when he would be home.
As I
sat up in bed I noticed that my "hard-shell" body was still lying down and my
"transparent" body was sitting up. As a child I found that amusing and
wonderful, so I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stepped out. As I did
so I gently started to float. I found that by thought alone I could control the
height and direction of travel that I desired. I floated upwards and observed my
sister sleeping. I tried to wake her to show her what I had done, but was unable
to rouse her. I then floated over to the bedroom door with the intention of
showing my mother what I could do, but could not open the door or leave the
confines of that room. I then in my childhood fears felt like maybe I was doing
something wrong, so I floated back to my "hard-shell" body, laid my transparent
body down over it in exactly the same way it was reposed and instantly I was
alert and able to move the shell.
A
few minutes later my mother came to check on us as was her habit and I related
what I had done to her. She brushed my head, told me I had a dream and kissed me
goodnight. A couple of days later I was able to repeat the process of leaving my
body and floating around the room. I told my grandmother about it and she became
very upset and cautioned me to never do it again as I may not be able to return.
A few times after that I found that I could still leave my body, but only when
lying on my back. To this day, I do not and will not sleep on my back.
Any
associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the
experience?
No
Was
the kind of experience difficult to express in words?
No
At
the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening
event?
No
What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?
I
was full conscious of everything going on around me and all conversations being
held.
Was the experience dream like in any way?
I
assure you it was no dream but a very real and awe inspiring experience.
Did
you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?
Uncertain Not sure of the question. My appearance was as a transparent
shape of exact form of my hard shell body which I could clearly see lying in the
bed. My thoughts were in the transparent body and I had no contact or feelings
with the hard shell.
What emotions did you feel during the experience?
amusement, elation, wonder, and some fear that I may be doing something I was
not supposed to do.
Did
you hear any unusual sounds or noises?
I
heard sounds and noises but they were not unusual, just my mother and
grandparents listening to the war news on the radio and discussing the days
events.
LOCATION DESCRIPTION:
Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar
religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or

No

see quite clearly.
Did
you meet or see any other beings?
No
Did
you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state?
Yes
I
attempted to open the bedroom door but was unable to even reach for it. I felt
as if I was confined to the bedroom and something terrible would happen if I
were to leave it. I also saw my sisters doll had fallen in the space between the
wall and the bed. I told my mother and she retrieved it and placed it back with
my sister.
Did
you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience
that could be verified later?
Yes I heard my folks discussing the attack in the Philippines, which my
father was a part of. I questioned them the next day and was told I was
eavesdropping and not to do that but go to sleep.
Did
you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they
different?
Yes no different then when in my shell
Did
you have any sense of altered space or time?
No

Yes I made the decision to return to my shell and did so with my thought

that you did not have prior to the experience?
Uncertain Like everyone else I sometimes feel as if I had done something
before, but I am able just for a second to predict what is about to occur.
Did
you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
Yes I am much more reluctant to discuss unusual things with people for fear
of being ridiculed.
How
has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices?
Career choices?
not
too much, I was able to put my experience out of mind until I happened upon this
site. I am at the age now where I don't give a damn what people think and I tell

What was the best and worst part of your experience?
best
part was discovering something new and thinking I was ahead of the game. The
worst part was finding out no one believed me.
Is
there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?
I
have had a subconscious fear of sleeping on my back for my entire life since
this experience. I have no fear of death but for some reason unknown to me I
have no desire to repeat it. I think I associate the obe with death of the shell
Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life,
medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?
No
Did
the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively

Yes I answered truthfully. I can recall those events as if they happened
