Michelle B's Experience
|
Experience description:
When I was ten
years old I was diagnosed with asthma and prescribed several medications in a
effort to control it. On New Year's Day after my eleventh birthday, my family
and I were on a beach fishing, I suddenly went into anaphylactic shock. The
ground began to move and I felt dizzy, I told my mother I was going to throw up,
and she suggested I begin digging a hole in the sand to vomit in.
I started
digging but before I could throw up the sky started getting really bright. I
became distracted by the increasing intensity of the brightness. Then I saw a
man walking toward me but not on the ground, above it somehow over the water, he
was bright, smiling and I felt an inner warmth. I knew he was coming for me but
I didn't want to go with him. I kept saying over and over not to let him come
for me, that I didn't want to go with him. I couldn't see anything else but him
and brightness, not my parents or the beach.
Then everything
was black and I woke up in the I.C.U. of the hospital I was taken to. I asked
my mother about the man, she said that I was saying that I didn't want to go
with him, I was pointing toward the water, with my head locked to the side
staring, unmovable. She said that they didn't see anything and within seconds I
went into a grand mal seizure. Less than ten minutes later, I was in cardiac
and respiratory arrest. I was intubated for nine hours in a coma. I left the
hospital less than two weeks after that.
