Experience description:

I was staying at a run down motel for the weekend. I ended up leaving early because it was very dirty, outdated, and had a horrible odor. It was overall very creepy. Anyway, I was reading about guardian angel encounters on my phone a couple hours before I fell asleep because I naturally have a very curious mind. I fell asleep around 2:30 because the bed was super uncomfortable. I want to note that I have always had vivid dreams. However, this was much, much different. The emotions I felt were indescribable and I felt feelings I never have experienced before in real life. I seemed to have "died" in my dream. I am not sure if I stopped breathing suddenly or if it was just a spiritual experience. But my soul or spirit lifted up out of my body and I felt super light. I kept floating up like I weighed less than gravity similar to helium. I was scared at first and kept waving my arms like a swimming motion trying to get back to my body but it didn't work. I just decided to roll with it because there was nothing I could do. The fear left and I felt super relaxed like all this weight and earthly worries just suddenly vanished. I assumed I died and I said "already" because it seemed like I was only on earth for a few seconds, even though I was 22 at the time. Then I ended up in this square empty room and within a second I was engulfed by this super bright white light, but it wasn't blinding. I couldn't even see anything else because it was nothing but light. Then I saw my guardian angel walking up to me from a distance. I felt extreme tranquility and euphoria. I felt this natural urge to run up to him hugged the angel. He hugged me back and I felt a lot of love but not like the love we feel on earth. I felt peace and safety. He had long curly hair and a white robe with big wings like an eagle. He also had big biceps. I say "he" but the angel looked like he had feminine features at the same time. I asked "are you my guardian angel?" But I didn't open my mouth, I thought it. He smiled really wide and shook his head yes. I had this feeling like I've known him before, like a long lost friend. It seemed like it lasted forever and he took my handed and we flew around for a while. Shortly after that I woke up suddenly and my body jerked. I fell asleep around 2:30, but when I woke up it was only 3:33. I knew nothing about these things at the time, and shortly after that I started reading about these experiences. I was raised as a Catholic but I wasn't really practicing faith at the time, and I had a scientific mind although I didn't dismiss the possibility of God. I found out that when people died or have other similar spiritual experiences, what I experienced is pretty similar. I now have a very firm belief that when I die I will be back with my guardian angel and in a heavenly realm. I have a lot less anxiety about death and I think about that peace every now and then.

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  No    

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?      Yes like real life. I had full control over my body, thoughts, and actions.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      More consciousness and alertness than normal   I felt more emotions and feelings that were magnified. I also felt unique sensations like when my soul lifted up that could not be replicated while in my physical body.

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   My vision was more detailed and less sensitive to light.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   I really didn't hear anything because communication occurred as if I was talking in my mind.

Did you see or hear any earthly events that were occurring during a time that your consciousness / awareness was apart from your physical / earthly body?   No  

What emotions did you feel during the experience?   Peace, euphoria, safety, and a sense that everything was going to be ok. I also felt as if I had memories that I never knew about while on Earth,  

Did you pass into or through a tunnel?   No  

Did you see an unearthly light?   Yes   The light was very bright and white in color. It did not hurt my eyes, in fact as soon as the light appeared and wrapped around me it felt good.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice?   I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin
I encountered my guardian angel.

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)?   No  

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings?   No  

Did you become aware of past events in your life during your experience?   No  

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world?   Some unfamiliar and strange place
I teleported into a white empty room that was later filled with light.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down?   Time seemed to go faster or slower than usual
It felt like a long time during the experience yet I was only asleep about an hour. Any other dreams I have had only last about 5 minutes or less then I see nothing until I enter another dream.

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything?   No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?   No

Did you come to a border or point of no return?   No

Did scenes from the future come to you?  No 

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness suggesting that there either is (or is not) continued existence after earthly life (“life after death”)?   Yes   I exited my body and saw my guardian angel. The experience and feelings I had were definitely not of this world.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that God or a supreme being either does (or does not) exist?   Yes   I encountered information about a supreme being by coming in contact with one of his angels. Angels cannot exist without a creator.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that you either did (or did not) exist prior to this lifetime?   Yes   I felt like I knew this being from a previous life or pre-life existence but had no recollection of it on earth.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life’s meaning or purpose?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life’s difficulties, challenges, or hardships?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding love?   Yes   I felt love like I have never felt it before. It wasn't the same as motherly or romantic love, it was unique. It was not like romantic love but love that made me feel warm and safe without any physical sensations.

During your experience, did you encounter any other specific information / awareness that you have not shared in other questions that is relevant to living our earthly lives?   No  

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge or purpose?   Yes   Special knowledge about things beyond our understanding unless someone personally experiences it. You have to be there to understand.

What occurred during your experience included:   Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience   I was back and forth with my beliefs regarding the afterlife and spiritual beings, but this confirmed it.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience   I remember this in full detail after 3 years so far. Every bit of it. Other dreams or memories would have fainted or only be fragments without as much detail.

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   I have more faith and am a lot more compassionate even more so than before. I donate more to charity and love others more. I do not get angry as much anymore and am able to get over things more easily. I am a lot more forgiving. I look at nature, space, and the ocean as well as the human body as magnificent creations.

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?   Yes   More compassionate and faithful. I also get depressed less because I know greater things await me.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   No  

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?     The whole experience.

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  I have told some people and they thought I was full of it or over the top. A lot of people just brush it off.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   No  

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was definitely real   It was hard to adjust with for a while because I have never experienced something like that before. I knew it was real although I did not realize such events were actually not uncommon until a few months after when I started reading about these similar experiences.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience at the current time:   Experience was definitely real   I view it as real because it aligns similarly to the Bible and other people's testimonies.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   My relationships are stronger.

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   I am more spiritual than before. I feel like life is more meaningful. I feel happier.
