Experience description:

This memory is so detailed in my brain as if it was yesterday. I was a little girl around 5 or so. I woke up in the early morning and had this strong desire to go swimming . I lived in an apartment complex in National City, California and back in the 70's they did not have surrounding pool gates.  I was able unlock the door and off I went towards the pool. I remember that I got in the pool and was holding onto the wall edges and basically going around the pool in the water. for some reason, I let go and I found myself at the bottom of the pool at the deep end. as I was standing in the bottom of the pool, I looked up. the light was reflecting the images above, I can see the buildings. All of a sudden thru the top of my head a VOICE over came me. it was a mans voice with under tones of a woman, motherly loving being talking to me. says to me: "MaryJo, I need you to jump, can you jump for me? come on MaryJo jump, follow me, jump keep jumping. I did not see anything, just a voice that was calling to me and wanting me to jump and follow him. I kept doing this until I was reaching the shallow side of the pool. as I kept listening and jumping towards the voice. the voice was leading me to the shallow side of the pool because my head popped up and I was able to get some air and down under the water I would go. I kept jumping until I reached the stares at the shallow side of the pool. and when I reached the stares. the voice says very sternly " NOW GO HOME!" that was it. I remember as I got out of the pool. my feelings were hurt because I was yelled at and it hurt my feelings, but I did not know how to or what just happened to me. when I was under water, I did not feel pain, cold or suffering because of no air. it stuck with me this memory. for years I wrote of the experience because it was so odd. until I saw a video about NDE that I realized this is what it really was. I tried to share this story just recently with some church goers and it did not go very well. no one believe me. makes me feel like they think I'm crazy or am lying.

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   Yes  I was 5 years old and standing an the deep end of the pool underwater. did not know what to do or how to swim

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      More consciousness and alertness than normal   I sometimes feel that the gift I received from this was better intuition. I get a strong gut feeling about something and it happens.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?   I just didn't understand, I just wanted to listen to the voice.

Did you see an unearthly light?   Uncertain   because there was light but I'm not sure if it was a special light. I was underwater, and can see above

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice?   I heard a voice I could not identify
