Mark E's Experience
|
Experience description:
One night during a terrible argument between my parents and older brother,
I was in bed trying to go to sleep, but was extremely upset at the atmosphere in
our home. The constant violent arguments caused me to become very depressed and
thinking strongly about committing suicide, just to get away from my situation.
I was only six years old, and my home life and school life was just terrible. I
wanted out.
I eventfully went off to sleep. I began to dream that I flew through the air
very fast, and landed in front of our local church. It was dark, and I could see
the traffic on the road going past.
My attention was suddenly drawn towards the church and I saw the front door
open. I had a strong feeling to go inside. So I did. At this point it all still
felt like a dream. I entered the church and stood there for a short time. Then
this rather tall thin man dressed like a medieval monk came along side of me, to
my left. Then the "dream" became real. He reached down and took my left hand,
and had this strong urge to follow him. I was not scared or afraid, but I felt
that this person was extremely "powerful" and wise. He sort of "told" me not to
be afraid and to go with him. We walked down the central Isle of the church
towards the confessional boxes on the left. The priest's center box door was
opened, and we walked into it. Inside, we kept walking, but it was a dimly lit
tunnel. Before I knew what was going on, we began to move extremely quickly
until we began to "fly". The sides of the tunnel pulsated with different colors,
but mainly with a strong emerald green color which was very soothing. Every time
I see the green color from the 1930's Wizard of OZ movie, I'm reminded of this
experience. We travelled very fast through the tunnel. It had a lot of twists
and turns. As we went faster and faster, I was hearing this increasing high
pitched sound, like the buzzing of cicadas on a hot night, but only higher in
pitch and getting faster as we went. I could also "feel" the sound too!
Suddenly we came out of the tunnel into a very bright grassed field. Like a
school play ground. Except that the people there were having a lot of fun
chasing each other. But they were flying, and going very fast. I felt as if I
had arrived at a birthday party and I wanted to join in. The tall person said to
me, that eventually I will come back to this again, but I had an extremely
important job to do. He said that my family life will change for the better very
soon and not to be afraid. He then said that when I have finished the job I was
sent out to do, I will return back here again and join in the fun once more.
Then he said that I was not to forget this place because it was my home. But I
had to return. I was shown this place in order to help me through the current
difficulties and stay strong. Then he said it was now time for me to go back. I
was not going to argue, as this person was very tall, and felt very "strong" and
was not to be messed with. His word was his order. He was not a god, or any
religious figure, but a very strong and wise "teacher" I felt. I felt that this
experience was a bit of a pep talk, a sort of encouragement to remember when
things got tough in my life.
The next thing I knew was that I was falling back down the tunnel very fast. The
noise became very loud and fast, and I felt this incredible squeezing and pain.
Like I was being forced into a tight boot. Then I woke with a start. Everything
thing was now quiet and I fell back to sleep.
Eventually after a few years, my family life settled down. I first found out
about NDEs in the early 1980's. The experiences told, matched mine, only that I
did not die, only wanted too very much because of my home life. I've always
wanted to try to understand why a six year old, who wanted to opt out of life,
had a NDE like episode way before they ever became public.
