Experience description:

I was sitting in my dentist’s office waiting room alone. I knew I had a cavity that had to be drilled and I was a bit anxious about that.

After waiting for several minutes, I found myself saying a prayer repeatedly in my head (not aloud) with my eyes closed. I was trying to create a more peaceful sense before I went into the dentists chair.

I had not been given nor had I taken any drugs whatsoever prior to being in the waiting room.

All of a sudden, when my eyes were still closed, I felt what I would ha e to describe as my spirit or soul quickly fly right out of the top of my head! I did not see my body in the chair but I knew that I ( my soul) was not in the body anymore!

Quickly I felt myself ( my soul) travel up through a sort of tunnel as if I was being sucked upwards. Strangely enough, I was not afraid but felt exhilarated!  I saw a bright light up above the tunnel and I was heading to it.

The emotional feeling of this event was amazingly exhilarating and joyful!   I had the sense that I was leaving my earthly body for good and going to another place. As I got closer to the end of the tunnel the light became brighter but it did not hurt my eyes at all.  I felt so much unconditional love and joy...Nothing like I had ever experienced on Earth.

I stopped abruptly at the end of the tunnel, almost as if there was an invisible gate there ( I did not feel it but I was unable to go any further).

I felt a large spiritual being directly ahead of me ( formless) that said to me ( without words) 'You must go back. It is not your time'

I had a extreme desire to stay and travel even farther as the love and light were so overwhelming desirable, but another non-verbal communication was presented to me at that moment: ' your little girl needs you'.

As quickly as I got there I found myself jolt back into my body in the dentist’s waiting room.

I opened my eyes and looked around, thinking someone must have seen this or felt me be gone from my body....but the waiting room was still empty. I looked at my watch and only several minutes had gone by.

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   No 

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  No    

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?         I seemed conscious and extremely aware the entire time.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      More consciousness and alertness than normal   I think it was such an exhilarating experience as to heighten my awareness at the time.

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   My 'vision' was more acute and undisturbed by the loving bright light I saw.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   'Hearing' was different that it is on Earth and the communication I was given was unspoken. The communication went directly to me as thoughts but I was aware they were from the spiritual being I met; not my own thoughts from my head.

Did you see or hear any earthly events that were occurring during a time that your consciousness / awareness was apart from your physical / earthly body?   No  

What emotions did you feel during the experience?   Exhilaration, great joy, love, peace!  

Did you pass into or through a tunnel?   Yes   Yes I passed quickly through a tunnel as if being sucked into it.

Did you see an unearthly light?   Yes   A bright, all encompassing loving warm light that did not hurt to look at.

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice?   I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin
Yes I encountered what seemed to be a higher spiritual being that had some authority over me. They did not have a defined body but I felt their presence.

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)?   Uncertain   They seemed like a higher authority but undefined.

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings?   Yes   No relation to me. They Seemed to be of a higher spiritual authority.

Did you become aware of past events in your life during your experience?   No  

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world?   No

Did time seem to speed up or slow down?   Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
Just seemed to happen very quickly.

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything?   No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?   Yes
I was stopped abruptly by some unseen force.

Did you come to a border or point of no return?   I came to a barrier that I was not permitted to cross; or was sent back against my will
I was not allowed to go any further once I was stopped. Although I would have loved to!

Did scenes from the future come to you?  No 

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness suggesting that there either is (or is not) continued existence after earthly life (“life after death”)?   Yes   I was aware that this was a place I could eventually come to when it was 'my time'.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that God or a supreme being either does (or does not) exist?   Yes   Yes since the being I met seemed to be of a higher spiritual realm.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that you either did (or did not) exist prior to this lifetime?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist?   Uncertain   Not sure

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life’s meaning or purpose?

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding love?   Uncertain   I felt an unconditional love that I had not felt on Earth.

What occurred during your experience included:   Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience   I have always believed in life after death but did not realize a person’s soul could leave their body in everyday life!

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of th   I will always remember this incident vividly. It seems to a special memory that is in a separate part of my being.

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   I have become a more freer person in all aspects of my life, I am not bound by the terrifying  fears that living on Earth presented to me.  I was able to move forward in my life, where once aI was a high school drop out and pregnant at age 17 to a highly successful Special Education teacher with a dual Masters Degree in education!

I ran a special education class for over 20 years loving every moment of it,  I have learned to communicate more freely in a kind and respectful way, not holding back my thoughts as I had done in the past.

My experience directly resulted in:   Large changes in my life

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?   Yes   I now believe that I matter to a higher spiritual being (God, or whoever).

I also realize that I am needed on this Earth during my lifetime and to find ways to be of service to those in need.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   Uncertain   I do seem to be able to know of incidents before they happen, or what another is experienclng from afar.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?     Just feeling the unconditional amazing love & light was enough to last a lifetime!

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  I was unable to share this experience for several years, and when I finally did, it is with only a handful of trusted family members & close friends.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   Uncertain   I may have heard of it before, but never heard of this type of incident happened to a person that was healthy & just going through everyday activities.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was definitely real   Oh it was real!!!! I am a very rational level headed person who something extraordinary happened to!

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   I was married to a unemotional, untrustworthy  person at the time. I was able to get out of that marriage within 10 years because Ii wanted a more loving and honest  partner in life.

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   I don’t feel the need to belong to a specific religion such as Catholicism.

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience?   No
