EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

I was having surgery to remove a fibroid tumor, first time surgery.  I was worried about being laid up for several weeks, unable to exercise.  I was also hungry before I went into surgery, and was concerned about not being able to eat.

When I woke up after surgery, I was in pain like I had never experienced. It was constant, and very distressing for me.

The next thing I knew, my 'spirit' came out of my body, laying on its side, doing leg lift exercises. Then it mentally said, 'Poor old tired body...'  I mentally said back, 'I'm not that old!'  Then it sent me a feeling of LOVE, pure and unconditional, like nothing I have ever experience on earth.

The next thing I knew, it was standing at the tray table at the end of my bed, eating these bright colored foods, that sort of looked like child's blocks of different shapes. I remember a nurse coming in, and I could see her pass behind my spirit, as it was transparent.  That's the last thing I knew, as I went back to sleep.

I feel like my spirit was taking care of me, doing the things that I was worried about - exercising and eating.  But let me know those things weren't really important.

It was a transparent white, human shaped figure, reminding me of the shape of an Oscar statue. It was flawless, beyond perfect. I say 'It' because it was neither male or female, just 'Spirit.'  That was especially interesting to me, as I hadn't had a preconceived idea that spirit would be asexual.

When I woke up again, it was gone. I was upset, because I wanted to experience that feeling of love again.

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  No    

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?           No, I was on pain medication, but am sure I wasn't hallucinating.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      Less consciousness and alertness than normal   I was still experiencing the effects of anesthesia.

What occurred during your experience included:   Content that was both consistent and not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience   I felt my 'spirit' would be female, not asexual

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of th   It was profound, like nothing I have ever experienced.

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   I was also with my mother when she passed in 1995. Though I didn't experience or see anything at the time, afterwards I experienced some things that I feel were caused by being at her passing.  Afterwards, I had premonitions when someone was going to be coming into my store, either several minutes or several hours before it happened.

I had the knowledge that we know the answers to everything in the universe, but our human minds aren't able to process it.

Also, I was compelled to find more meaningful purpose to my life, and became a hospice volunteer, and also volunteered helping the elderly.

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  I could share shortly after.  I feel they were interested, but probably not influenced.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   Yes   Read a lot about NDE's - Raymond Moody, etc.

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was definitely real   It still is real to me.
