Experience description:

I was having a difficult time after the sudden passing of my father and spent many nights crying myself to sleep.  There was a series of losses soon after (close family members, friends, etc) which were all unexpected and had a very difficult time coping with so much loss in a short amount of time that I lost an interest in living.  Quite often I would pray to God to help me find peace and comfort and it seemed that my prayers were never heard.  One of these nights praying out of desperation, I experienced something that to this day still remains a vivid memory.  It must have happened while I was just about to fall into a deep sleep.  My eyes were closed but I 'saw' a speck of light in the distance almost like a star but it was very bright.  The light was a very vivid white/bluish light and it was as if it was shining between my eyes.  I began to hear and feel a very low frequency of sound and felt this vibration of energy begin at the top of my head and move all the way down my body then back up to my head again several times at a slow pace.  At the same time this light became brighter and as it came closer to me, I was able to see that the blue/white light was in the shape of a cross with a haze around it similar to a star on a hazy night.  As it got closer, it got brighter and larger until that was all I could see.  The deep frequency of sound and vibration of the sound went through my body and the intensity of the feeling increased as the light grew nearer.  Once I was able to see the cross and its intensity and feel the effects of this experience, all went black immediately and I 'woke up' sobbing.  I know it was not a sign from God, but HE was with ME.  The experience was nothing I have ever had before or since, but something I will never forget.

I have only shared this with my husband, who I woke up and told him I just met GOD.

I was never afraid during my experience and as it happened I felt at peace and at the same time, overwhelmed with emotions of joy.

 Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?      No     

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words?        Yes    The feeling was very intense.  Afraid to share the experience because people might think it was a dream or a hallucination.

 At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?       No     

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?    Just falling into a deep sleep.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?           No.  Too intense to be a dream.

 Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?         No     

What emotions did you feel during the experience?           Intense emotion, peace, comfort and tremendous joy at the same time.

 Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           Yes, very low frequency of sound that I also felt pulsate and run through my body.

 LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?           No     

Did you see a light?         Yes    The light began as a speck of light that I was focusing on for some reason.  It got brighter and as it came towards me in 3D it got larger and in the shape of a cross until that was all I could see.  It was a bluish white light, very intense but did not hurt my 'eyes'.

 Did you meet or see any other beings?         No     

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state?    No     

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?        No     

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?  Yes    When I 'saw' the light, I wasn't looking at it with my physical eyes.  It was almost as if I could see this light between where my physical eyes are.  I felt sound wave frequencies run and pulsate throughout my body.  It was a very low frequency and vibration that I could also hear.

 Did you have any sense of altered space or time?           No     

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?           Yes    I knew it was not a sign from God but was God and he was with me.

 Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?              No     

Did you become aware of future events?      No     

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?     No      Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience? Yes    I have had psychic gifts from the time I was a child.  I smell auras the same day when people close to me die, have known what people were going to say before they said it, have said things to people which were of events that were true.  These experiences have been verified by people close to me and they have seen it first hand.

 Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?         Yes    I know I have a purpose and God is with me.  Before this I had a lot of doubt.  I am not religious but since this experience I am very spiritual.

 How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?           See above.

 Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience? Uncertain    

Have you shared this experience with others?           Yes    My husband.  He was supportive. I am afraid to mention this to others because of their reactions.

 What emotions did you experience following your experience? Intense emotion.  Comfort, joy, love.  'Woke' up from the experience sobbing.

 What was the best and worst part of your experience? The intensity of the light.  It was the bluest/whitest light.  The feeling of the sound frequency running through my body.  The whole experience was positive and felt that the experience was healing and special to experience it.

 Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?       No     

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?             Yes    Although this was not an OBE or NDERF it was exceptional and know it wasn't a dream but something incredible.  Not sure where this would fit into your research.
