Experience description:

When I had my near-death experience in 1990 it was an experience I will never forget because of the tremendous impact it had on my life. I was told later by a doctor that I had suffered a stroke.

I was home alone and experienced an incredible pain in my chest, and although I did not consider myself religious, I started to pray to God for help. I struggled over and lay on the couch and then realized I was out of my body looking down on myself. The next thing I knew I was going through a tunnel towards a bright light and there I was spoken to by a being of light, my father was standing off to one side he did not speak and had no real form but I knew it was him.

This experience went from the out of body state of grace, love and light the one divine consciousness with everything, total bliss, then being spoken to in the light through my mind(telepathically) by the most radiant being who told me she was the “Mother of God”

I said why are you speaking to me I am not a Catholic to which she replied neither am I, I am Jewish. I was shown my life, a review of the past, present and future, showing all the feelings and actions that had passed in my life and then being told to return – “It wasn’t my time to die”

This I didn’t want to do, then I was shown the future and I knew things were going to change in the world, I was told I had to return to learn, understand, fight for my rights, teach the children and I was going to write a book.

When I returned to my body it felt different, I would actually pinch my skin to see if it was a physical form. I tried to relate the experience to my family, Doctor and friends, but no one could understand or want to understand, what to me, was the most beautiful experience of all. They thought I was either imagining it, dreaming or crazy but the experience felt real to me, more real than anything else I had ever experienced and somehow, I knew I was going to write or talk about this near-death experience.

It was if I was being guided by something I knew was ahead in my life, something that I had to do. I didn’t remember the details that were shown of the future but I would just allow myself to head in that direction, at times I found it difficult with heading toward a spiritual learning but I knew in my mind that all would change I wasn’t quite sure how, but the knowing always was my driving force.

I started to receive messages which I believe came from Mary mother of God. I would sit with a pen and paper and the words would come automatically to me, I was told to date the writing as I received it. I have written many pages of this auto directed writing over a period of approximately 10 years. Some of this writing was in a form of cursive or shorthand like script completely unfamiliar to me.

Now when I look at the writing it’s like I’m unraveling in my mind the journey I was taken on in my near-death experience and all that was shown to me past present and future, the feelings and actions I felt and the knowing of things to come. Here is a sample of the script:

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience.   It has been vividly imprinted in my memory, as it was so beautiful - although traumatic.

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   I was told I was to write a book and to 'teach the children'.  I have received channeled writing on a regular basis over a period of approximately 10 years.  A voice, which I assumed was Mary, would tell me to sit and write, which I did, dating the writing at the time I received it.

My experience directly resulted in:   Large changes in my life

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?   Yes   I felt compelled to rationalize what I had experienced. This led me to learning about near death experiences, religion and ancient history things which I had not previously thought about.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   Yes   I started to receive channeled messages.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?     Having been spoken to by the Virgin Mary, why me

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  Within days I spoke to my doctor who did not seem interested or understand what I was telling him. My husband thought I was going crazy and could not comprehend that this had actually happened to me.  Eventually the stress and strains of this experience led to our marriage break down.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   No  

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was probably real   It was outside anything I had ever experienced and I found it difficult to comprehend at times.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience at the current time:   Experience was definitely real   The messages I have received have convinced me this was real, and had a purpose.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   Break down of my marriage / divorce. Am more empathetic towards people in my relationships with others.  I have since happily remarried.

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   Believe in God and an afterlife.
