Amelie L's Experience
|
Experience description:
About twenty three years ago, during a troubled period in my life, I had a
vision of my own death. I was awake but in a meditative, relaxed state whilst
sitting on the floor, listening to music. This is what happened.
I was very old, over 90, and saw myself close to where I was brought up, on the
south coast of England. I was standing on the cliff tops looking out to sea.
This was something I have done hundreds of times and it felt very familiar to
me. Suddenly, I stepped out of my body and saw it fall to one side, just like I
had removed an old coat or jacket I no longer needed. I had no attachment to it
and I was surprised to find myself looking at my body because I didn't know I
was about to experience my death. I was not in the least alarmed or anxious. I
felt at peace. Just then, I unfurled the most amazing wings: pristine, white and
very strong. They had been furled for a long time but were just ready at that
moment, not a second too soon or a second too late. I set off towards the sun,
marveling at the beauty of the ocean below me. It was azure blue with diamonds
of light twinkling up at me. The sun's heat and light drew me towards it and at
the same time, I was willing myself towards it. I knew with absolute certainty
that the golden light was where I belonged. I was going home and I was SO
excited to get there. At that point, the vision stopped. After the vision, for
the next three days I was in a strange state. I remember going to the
supermarket, looking at all these people and trying to sense the spirits behind
the bodies. I remember thinking 'It doesn't matter what our jackets are like:
old, young, black, white. We are all spirits wearing body jackets and one day,
when we are ready, we will go home'.

I wasn't expecting anything like this, or thinking about death or about my home

experience took me completely by surprise.

I realised that I was not my body but
separate to it and that when I die this happens. I also realized that there is a

I also hoped that there would be 'heaven' but I had no concept of what that
would be like and whether I would get in! I imagined it might by like the film
'A Matter of Life and Death' where the air pilot (David Niven) has his case
argued for him about whether he should stay or return to life here. This vision
showed me that in a wink I will be re-united with all there is, and it will be a
time of great joy (something I haven't experience here, in this life).

potentially harmful to me, feeling a dead weight fall on my chest and body so
that I couldn't breathe and hearing/sensing a devilish presence which laughed
sarcastically and nearly vomited. In both these cases the only thing that
occurred to me to do was to say 'In Jesus' name, go away!' which they did and I
didn't really worry about it after that.
