Experience description:

I went to a hypermarket in the afternoon. Everything was normal - I mean just an average day, nothing special happened. I was in a normal, healthy, awake state. I just entered the building - there is a big space between the entrance and the cash desks which leads to the entrance of the market. Suddenly, out of nowhere I had a very strong and strange feeling - I saw myself from outside, I became in a sort of auto pilot mode. I felt that I don't control my body, it just walks ahead on its own. I felt that it's not me who wants to walk towards the entrance and if I wanted to stop, I couldn't. I saw myself from outside but not from above. About 270 degrees, which was also very weird. I would say I sensed the body which is meant to be me, from behind, front and left side. It was a very unusual feeling. I felt that it is a body like an object, I was sort of detached from it a bit, though not completely. It lasted a few seconds and it was over as suddenly as it started. After I was very confused, dizzy but not it that exact physical sense as  we usually say 'I am dizzy'. My mind started to work very quickly, looking for some explanation. I thought I almost fainted, but then it came to mind when I did once in the past it was different. Then I thought my blood pressure dropped suddenly, but it was different from it. My head wasn't really turning. It was like an electric shock - I never had it so I can just imagine, I can't find a better simile. It was like someone pushed a button on me and I entered a different state immediately. After it stopped, I felt a kind of buzzing sensation all around me and within my body, especially in my head. I felt a bit weak afterwards, but not really physically weak, rather a mixture of dizziness, weakness and confusion. On the way home it just popped into my head: out of body experience. The short sensation between normal state and OBE, which I described as if someone pushed a button to get me into an altered state, was familiar to me, it happened a few times years earlier, it just stopped before anything similar had happened.

The whole experience was frightening at first as I lost control over my body - I didn't lose consciousness, though. It was so strong that I immediately knew something has happened to me. However, my mind tried to find a physical explanation, as it is its nature.

I add a few things as I think they might help to see a bigger picture.

I have lucid dreaming more and more often. I don't remember a time when I didn't have vivid dreams. Even as a child I entertained my sister with telling her my strange dreams. Dreaming feels like another dimension which has its own features, many times contradictory to the laws of physics.

Once I had sleep paralysis which was really frightening and scary, extremely strong. It was like the experience sat on my chest the whole day afterwards and didn't let me breathe normally and made me sick and shocked.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience? No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words?          Yes    It was a completely new experience, therefore it is hard to express it with words, as I am not used to it. I has such sensations which are not part of everyday life so I haven't practiced to describe them.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event? No

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?      I was totally conscious. I felt I cannot control the body which is actually me on this physical plane.

Was the experience dream like in any way?  Yes, similar to lucid or vivid dreaming

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?  Yes    I felt consciousness from where I saw my body. I didn't feel any nonphysical form, no light etc. I just saw my body but I didn't feel it as we feel our bodies in normal awake state.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?          Shock

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?         no

Did you meet or see any other beings?         No

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state?         No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?         No

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different? Uncertain     I just saw myself outside but didn't see with my body's eyes.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?  Yes    A space within space - kind of consciousness in or around the physical plane but not really part of it. Consciousness from one can observe the physical plane closely, though not with all the 5 senses at the same time, but also using another sort of sensation which may be close to what we call 6th sense. But this sense felt to be much more powerful than the other 5 senses altogether.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?         Uncertain     Nothing exact, I was just aware of a power which I hadn't sensed before. Sort of divine power which is way more powerful than anything else I knew about.

Uncertain          I don't know, it just happened yesterday.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience? Yes    I feel more distant from the physical plane and closer to metaphysics.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?   It is too fresh to tell.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience? No

Have you shared this experience with others?       Yes    With my husband who was with me during the experience. He thought it was just a sort dizziness and he didn't really care about it. Later, when we got home and I talked about it in more details, he paid attention but he is just too materialistic to deal with it in merit.

What emotions did you experience following your experience? uncertainty, but it disappeared after realizing I had an OBE

What was the best and worst part of your experience?          worst - I was out of control and didn't know what would happen. best - makes my belief stronger that there is something beyond the physical world
